August 3rd, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Writing Workshop with Karen Howard
Karen Howard will be helping teens read and review their poetry together, and will help them build on their strengths and improve on their writing. Karen Howard is the Coordinator for Community Partnerships and Networking Western Pennsylvania Writing Project University of Pittsburgh School of Education and a writer-in-residence of Radiant Hall.
August 4th, Noon – 2 p.m.: Writing Workshop with Veronica Corpuz
Veronica Corpuz is a first-generation Filipina American poet and multimedia artist. The former director of the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, Pa., she has previously served as the program assistant for the Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church in New York City; as adjunct professor at Naropa University and Chatham University; and as guest speaker and poet at New York University and the Kelly Writers House at University of Pennsylvania.
August 5th:, Noon: Field Trip to City of Asylum
August 6th, 6 p.m.: Open Mic Night at Black Tea Brown Suga Network Headquarters, Stowe
The youth who have been participating in these workshops and improving their creative chops all summer long with their Learn and Earn program at the Black Tea Brown Suga Studio will be presenting their writing. Everyone is invited!
